Services Offered Include:
Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessments
Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments typically involve four to five hours of face-to-face contact with the patient. A clinical interview is initially conducted followed by a testing session on a series of neuropsychological tests, which are chosen to address the specific referral question. The patient may often require a brief break during testing so that their performance is not affected by fatigue. The referring doctor and patient will receive a four to six page report, complete with a summary of the relevant history, assessment results, interpretation of findings and recommendations for treatment and/or support services if necessary.
Suitable for patients requiring:
A formal diagnosis
Prognosis on the course of the illness
Recommendations for support services
Treatment plans for cognitive rehabilitation, such as memory retraining
Reports for community services, such as the aged care and assessment team (ACAT)
Brief Neuropsychological Assessments
A brief neuropsychological assessment will involve one hour of face-to-face contact with a patient. A brief interview will be conducted along with testing on a screening measure, which is designed to tap into the various cognitive abilities that are commonly affected by dementia or brain injury. A one to two page summary of the findings will be provided.
Suitable for patients requiring:
A brief reading of current cognitive functioning for non-diagnostic purposes, such as deciding whether a patient has the capacity to participate in a rehabilitation program or a baseline reading against possible future cognitive decline.
A recommendation as to whether a comprehensive assessment is necessary.
